Elmwood Health Centre Refurbishment
Major refurbishment works started at Elmwood Health Centre in March 2016. Whilst the work has inevitably had some impact day to day, we continue to try and keep disruption to services to a minimum. When disruption is unavoidable we would please ask you to be as understanding as possible as the long term benefits to all will be worthwhile.
Phase 3 was completed on 10th October.
The wing used mainly by our Nurses and HCAs was structurally changed: removing the old reception desk, widening the waiting area entrance, knocking down a few walls and moving doors, and creating a toilet that is fully accessible for disabled patients and has a “baby change” facility.
This final phase is the most challenging as it involves the closure of the main waiting room and 10 clinical rooms used by the GPs, for about two months.
With some effort we are accommodating most of the clinical staff in the building. Drs Bradley, Dorsett, Irving, Sharma and Singh will mainly be upstairs during this phase. Drs Akam, Dewhurst, Hughes, Morton, Reddington & Simcox will usually be found downstairs. The automatic check-in screen will usually direct you to where you need to wait, but if you have any doubts please check with the Reception staff.
During this period you may be offered an appointment at our Meltham branch – “Meltham Village Surgery”. This is at 11, Parkin Lane, HD9 4EN and is near the bus station. It is NOT at The Cobbles Surgery near Morrisons.
